Saudi Arabia pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka was unveiled under the heading “Designing the Future Society for Our Lives”

At a gala dinner in Osaka on Wednesday, under the theme "Designing the Future Society for Our Lives," Saudi Arabia's Expo 2025 Osaka pavilion was officially opened by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the country's minister of culture. The pavilion seeks to depict Saudi Arabia's history from antiquity to the present and beyond. Prince Badr emphasised the Kingdom's energy and environmental initiatives as well as its support of culture and the arts, which has resulted in the opening of many museums and art galleries in recent years.

According to Al-Sulaiman, the pavilion would be made up of several blocks with interspersed interior and outdoor spaces, emulating a typical Saudi house courtyard. At night, the courtyard will come alive with performances and activities. Each block's roof will have solar panels installed in keeping with the pavilion's eco-friendly design, which will result in very low carbon dioxide emissions.

Saudi Arabia and Japan have a long-standing connection, which is strengthened by the Kingdom's participation at Expo 2025 Osaka. The cultural gala commemorated the growth in investment, travel, and cross-cultural contact between the two nations.

Leading architects Foster + Partners selected the pavilion's design, which was unveiled at the event and represented a celebration of the architectural and cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and Japan. By fusing contemporary architectural features with the contours of the desert, the sustainable design honours Saudi Arabia's natural surroundings and represents the relationship between past achievements and future progress.

The design places a high priority on environmental responsibility. It employs energy-efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting, carbon emission-reducing technologies, and solar panels to generate clean electricity.

Saudi Arabia's unique identity at Expo 2025 Osaka was unveiled with a logo that combines the term "Saudi" with the elegant Japanese script to represent the Kingdom on a map, with Arabic calligraphy rendered in a manner evocative of Japanese calligraphy. The pavilion's architectural design was enhanced by the logo's introduction.
