Saudi Arabia ranks as the most connected country in the world in terms of its road network

NewsAccording to Saudi Arabia's Minister of Transport and Logistics, Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, the kingdom has the world's most extensive road network. Speaking at the "Safe distinguished roads" campaign launch in Riyadh on Sunday, he stated that the Kingdom has seen a more than 50% decrease in the incidence of major accidents, fatalities, and injuries in recent years.
The programme, which is in its fourth year, strives to improve safety and efficiency of the extensive road network while also offering the finest services available to road users, according to the minister. He stated that over the past few years, the programme has significantly improved road user quality, safety, and experience.
Al-Jasser made reference to safety measures and stated that significant efforts, including engineering work aimed at enhancing quality, modernising intersections, controlling blind areas, and investing in safety features, have helped to reduce the number of serious accidents, fatalities, and injuries by more than 50% in recent years. He made particular notice of the fact that the UN wants to reduce accident fatality rates by 50% by 2030 in order to achieve its safety goal.
In just three years, the Kingdom has improved its road condition to a grade of 5.7, which covers more than half of the needed travel time by 2030, according to the minister.
