Saudi Arabia has received five certificates of excellence at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS 2023) organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland, for the excellence of its innovative projects, bringing the Kingdom's total certificates of excellence to 35.
The Kingdom has received certificates of excellence on the projects "Balady Platform — Digital City Platform" submitted by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs.
It won the Smart Indicator Analysis, System Development Project, submitted by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the National Databank submitted by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority.
The Kingdom bagged the Innovative e-learning Platform of the University of Hail; and Habkeh Project submitted by the private sector.
The Kingdom won the WSIS 2023 Summit Prize for the Early Warning System Development Project submitted by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, where the Kingdom's projects are highly competitive, with global innovations participating from more than 109 countries.
This achievement reflects the position of the telecommunications sector internationally and the level of development of the sector's infrastructure as a result of the continued support of the wise leadership.
The sector aims at speeding up digital transformation and technology activation projects in various sectors, including government services, healthcare, education and entertainment.
