NewsThe Ministry of Media in Saudi Arabia has chosen to nominate its ground-breaking Media Oasis project for the upcoming United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2024 Prizes.
This esteemed nomination, under the government media sector category, attests to the noteworthy influence of the initiative and the Kingdom's progressive standing in the worldwide information society.
Media Oasis stands out among the more than a thousand initiatives competing for this year's award, just one year after its inception in 2023. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) chose Media Oasis, recognizing not only its quality but also its status as the lone government representation from the Kingdom in the media sector category.
This showcases the Kingdom's significant national transformation projects to the globe and represents the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Media and its partners in the public and private sectors.
In line with Saudi Arabia's proactive involvement in international events and hosting of numerous significant regional and international conferences, Media Oasis has quickly garnered attention on a local and international level.
Media Oasis, which offers a specialized platform for media coverage of important events, has made it easier for local and foreign media to cover important stories and has given them a distinct perspective on the Kingdom's important national initiatives.
The project has welcomed over 9,800 guests over the course of its five editions, garnered attention from over 455 media sites, and assisted over 2,600 journalists from over 70 countries in publishing over 440 news pieces.
