Saudi Arabia unveiled plans to allow foreign law firms to provide consultancy services in the near future

Saudi Arabia announced intentions to soon let international legal firms offer consulting services. The Code of Law Practise will be modified by the Ministry of Justice in order to permit overseas law firms to offer consultation services concerning Saudi legal matters.

The Ministry has put up a draught adjustment to Article 51 of the Code of Legal Practise, and before it is finalised, it is soliciting comments and recommendations from the public. According to the revisions, overseas law firms may offer advice about Saudi legislation through a lawyer listed on the list of attorneys currently engaged in the practise of law in line with the terms of this code.

According to the present version of Article 51 of the Code of Law Practise, a foreign law firm that has been granted permission to practise law in the Kingdom must engage in all legal-related activities.

After taking into consideration the prohibition on arguing on behalf of others before the aforementioned authorities, which is indicated in article 1 of the code, this will be the case.

The modifications state that foreign law firms may provide guidance on Saudi laws through one of the solicitors on the list of those already practising law in accordance with the provisions of this code.

A foreign law firm that has been given authorization to practise law in the Kingdom is required to conduct all legal-related operations, under the most recent edition of Article 51 of the Code of Law Practise.

This will be the case after taking into account the restriction on speaking on behalf of others when speaking with the aforementioned authorities, which is stated in article 1 of the code.
