Saudi made Lucid electric vehicle equipped with drone, AI technologies on display at the World Defense Show

The World Defence Show began in Riyadh on Sunday, and the first-ever Saudi-made Lucid electric car, complete with drone and artificial intelligence technology, is on show. This intelligent patrol car is one of the main draws of the Ministry of Interior's exhibit pavilion, drawing a sizable crowd. The electric car, which Saudi security forces will begin using in their fleet of patrol cars, will be equipped with a number of security elements that are bolstered by artificial intelligence technology to help them carry out their duties.

According to General Traffic Department spokesperson Col. Mansour Al-Shukra, the new car is compliant with the Saudi Green Initiative, which was started by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. Speaking about the artificial intelligence and technology aspects of the car, he claimed that in addition to detecting traffic infractions, the six cameras on the car can identify people who are sought, criminals, and violent behaviour.

This vehicle is equipped with a drone that can fly and take pictures of areas where criminal activity takes place, according to Col. Al-Shukra. He gave an example when he stated, "In the event of the sound of gunfire, the plane immediately flies and shoots the location and returns to its place."

In addition, it is carbon emission reduction and ecologically beneficial, supporting the objectives of the Middle East Green Initiative and the Saudi Green Initiative. This car has several artificial intelligence features, such as Light Bar, which has six cameras to identify number plates and recognise faces of cars that break traffic laws by speeding, parking incorrectly, deceiving people or driving with an expired registration licence (istimara). It can also scan a person's facial expressions to read their behavioural patterns. Additionally, it can analyse data and transmit it to the command and control centre to enhance security and cover a larger area.
