NewsSaudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture officials recently inked two agreements to turn agricultural plant products into plant-based meals flavoured with animal protein. According to the Saudi Press Agency, a ministry research centre focusing on enhancing agricultural product development would also be built. Ahmed bin Saleh Ayada, ministry undersecretary, and officials from several authorities attended the signing event.
The Cooperative Societies Council, Saudi Greenhouses Management and Agricultural Marketing Co., and Ayla Food Options Co., a national corporation specialising in healthy food items, all signed agreements.
The agreements seek to foster a healthy food culture within communities while also providing locally created, high-quality vegetarian options and utilising sophisticated technology for creating meat and dairy substitutes. Furthermore, the agreements will aid in the growth of agricultural production and marketing systems, promote food security, improve environmental sustainability, and contribute to the general development of the Kingdom's agricultural sector.
In addition to encouraging healthy eating habits, the technique is intended to reduce the load on traditional animal production systems, contributing to food security and waste reduction. An accompanying exhibition was organised during the signing ceremony to display a variety of healthy food products and vegetarian alternatives to meat and dairy. Visitors were able to taste the items.
