Saudi national Overwatch 2 team secured the championship at the World Cup held in California

At the 36-team World Cup in California, the Saudi national Overwatch 2 squad won the whole competition. By defeating their Chinese opponents 3-2, the Saudi squad won Overwatch, becoming the first country to accomplish so.

Starting with group stage qualifying on January 25, 2023, the Saudi squad outperformed Japan, the US, and France, therefore dominating the competition. Because of this, they advanced to the elimination-based competition finals.

After defeating Finland 3-2 in the quarterfinals, the Saudi squad defeated Spain 3-0 and overcame a 2-0 deficit against China in the thrilling championship match.

The players Majed Al-Rasheed, Alhamidi Al-Rowaili, Abdulilah Al-Fayfi, Ibrahim Al-Ali, Ahmed Al-Youbi, Osama Abdullah, and Fahad Al-Aqaili all had outstanding individual and team performances throughout the Saudi squad's perfect championship run.

At the Saudi Arabian Esports Federation's qualifiers and finals, Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, the Federation's president, was present, as was Ahmed Al-Busheri, the deputy CEO, and Faisal binhomran, the CEO of Esports, to show their support for the team as they competed for the title.
