News EventLaunched under the name "Abaad," or "Dimensions," the Saudi Space Agency's astrophotography competition aims to foster a love of science and astronomy. Aiming to close the gap between artistic expression and scientific astronomical study, the SSA project was unveiled on Thursday. Open to both citizens and residents, the tournament comprises three categories and runs from August 15 to November 15.
Astrophotographers who specialise in taking pictures of galaxies, nebulae, and stars fall under the "Deep Space" category. Both professionals and amateurs may enter the "Solar System" category, which encompasses planets and comets.
The "Saudi Space" category is open to experts, amateurs, and novices alike, and invites participants to connect celestial objects with historical sites and national symbols. The SSA intends to host seminars for anyone looking to advance their talents as well as an exhibition featuring the entries.
AI-generated or significantly altered photographs are not permitted for participants to enter. Each participant may only submit one entry per category, and the competition period must be photographed within Saudi Arabia.
Nine winning submissions will be announced once the entries are examined in phases.
Submissions can be made at www.SSA.gov.sa/Abaad.
