Saudi TGA announced a series of new regulations aimed at overhauling the Kingdom’s online delivery sector

The Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) recently unveiled a number of new rules intended to completely revamp the Kingdom's internet delivery industry. These steps are meant to improve the effectiveness, dependability, and security of delivery services, with a focus on the duties and laws that apply to drivers who are not Saudi nationals.

The creation of a uniform for non-Saudis employed in delivery services is a crucial component of these laws. The authority sees this as a step towards standardising delivery personnel's look, which will help to give clients a more polished and reliable service experience.

The TGA has laid out measures to gradually reduce non-Saudi citizens' options for self-employment in the delivery industry. This procedure, which will take place over a period of 14 months, would drastically alter the employment picture in the industry. It will now be mandatory for non-Saudi drivers to work for light transport businesses. This choice is a component of a larger plan to constantly monitor and manage the industry.

Together with the General Directorate of Traffic, the TGA has also released regulations pertaining to the use of motorbikes for order delivery. The purpose of these rules is to guarantee a more effective and safe usage of motorbikes during transportation. The allowance for light transport trucks to show ads is another noteworthy modification. This decision creates new opportunities for commercial involvement and advertising in the delivery industry and was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing.

The TGA's commitment to a methodical and regulated restructuring of the delivery industry is reflected in the decisions' staggered implementation. While enabling Saudi nationals to work for themselves, the first phase will see the activation of delivery orders to non-Saudi drivers through light transport businesses.
