SDAIA to develop the capabilities of Smart Makkah Operations Center to ensure safety and comfort of pilgrims

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is utilising artificial intelligence to enhance the Smart Makkah Operations Center's (Smart Moc) capabilities in accordance with the most recent standards. This is done to guarantee pilgrims' safety and comfort and to make it easier for them to move around the holy precincts.

In addition, the centre works in the domains of artificial intelligence, data, and programming to monitor many platforms and offer precise workflow assessments.

This falls under the purview of SDAIA's goal to use cutting-edge technology in order to better serve God's guests, which includes Umrah and Hajj pilgrims as well as guests at the Grand Mosque.

The BASEER platform is one of the technical initiatives that the SDAIA launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, represented by Public Security, to support government agencies' efforts in managing crowds and the Hajj. The platform is based on national algorithms in artificial intelligence.

Along with the advanced analytics data panel that provides information about the overall state of affairs in each location based on particular indicators, like the average time that vehicles spend in port lanes, measuring indicators of pilgrim dispersal and pilgrim behaviour at the Jamarat and the paths leading to it, and assisting the authorities in implementing dispersal plans and counting the number of pilgrims, the Sawaher platform offers advanced analyses of support services in controlling vehicle movement and managing crowds in the holy sites.

SDAIA, the country's leading enabler of all things related to data and artificial intelligence in Saudi Arabia, made significant investments in building a smart digital system in Makkah and the Holy Sites. This is to support government agencies, particularly the Ministry of Interior, in managing the Hajj from operational centres at their headquarters by the highest standards of performance, continuity, and cybersecurity,
