NewsSmart golf carts have been adopted for tawaf, or the procession around the Holy Kaaba, by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. During the peak Umrah season, which occurs during the holy month of Ramadan, the Grand Mosque roof is equipped with a golf cart service for the elderly and pilgrims with specific requirements.
The approved pilgrims can access the golf cart location via the King Abdulaziz Gate Elevators, Umrah Gate Elevators, and Ajyad Escalators, according to the government. The golf cart is available for use twelve hours a day, from 4:00 pm to 4:00 am.
According to the authorities, the service costs SR25 per person, value-added tax included, and is exclusively available for conducting tawaf. Fifty golf carts with ten passenger capacities may be used for tawaf. Tickets may be bought at the points of sale situated on the Grand Mosque's roof in order to utilise the carts as per the authorities.
