TGA has established a new uniform code for bus drivers in specialized transport activities

A new uniform code for bus drivers operating in specialised transport operations, bus rental and guiding, educational transport, and foreign passenger transport has been developed by the Transport General Authority (TGA).

The rules, which go into effect on April 27, 2024, are a part of an endeavour to improve service quality, standardise driver appearances in accordance with public taste, and improve the overall perception of this crucial industry that provides services to a wide variety of Saudi Arabian citizens, tourists, and visitors.

The permitted attire for female drivers consists of either a black hat or an abaya with boots or shoes, as well as an optional head covering. A long-sleeved blue shirt, black pants, a black belt and black boots make up the required outfit.

The men's uniform is equally adaptable. The national attire may be worn with boots or shoes, and a black hat or Shemagh/Ghutra is optional. Male drivers are required to wear black pants, black boots, a black belt and a long-sleeved blue shirt.

These consistent requirements must be followed by people authorised for educational transport as well as licenced enterprises conducting bus transport in the designated activities. Subject to previous clearance, the Authority permits enterprises to design their own uniforms. A long- or short-sleeved shirt, long pants, a belt, boots and an optional cap in the same colour as the shirt may all be included in this personalised outfit.

Drivers may also choose to add a coat or jacket to their uniform, as long as it doesn't get in the way of providing services. The name and logo of the business, the driver's name, photo, and driver's number, or only the driver's name and number in the case of educational transportation, must all be shown on driver identification cards. The driver's ID card should have all necessary information visible through the uniform.
