The Kingdom welcomed the Dakar Rally 2024 on Friday, January 5. The Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia will be concluding on Friday, January 19. The first of the event took place in 2020.
The Dakar Rally 2024 begn in AlUla and travelled through the Kingdom, including stops in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Hail before coming to a finish in Yanbu.
2020 saw Saudi Arabia host the inaugural Dakar Rally. The rally event spans several thousand km and includes both on- and off-road competition. The duration of the event is typically 10 to fifteen days.
It is renowned for driving eco-friendly cars and utilising sustainable fuel.
Mashael Al Obaidan became the first Saudi woman to compete in rally driving outside of the Middle East when she entered the Dakar Rally in 2022.
