The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah helps 450 orphans and people with disabilities to take part the Hajj pilgrimage

As part of the third edition of a national programme, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah assisted 450 orphans and persons with disabilities in participating in the Hajj trip. The project was established by the ministry in conjunction with other government and charitable organisations, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The programme is in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 goals of improving pilgrim services.

To facilitate the execution of Hajj rites, the ministry has given contemporary and well-equipped transport vehicles, as well as designated pathways to holy sites. Services to meet the requirements of the group were also supplied, such as medication and supplies, sign interpreters, and Braille language resources.

The national effort began in 2021, with 200 male and female pilgrims participating. The next year, 300 pilgrims from various parts of the Kingdom joined. In the run-up to the Hajj season, interactive sessions and talks with organisations representing people with disabilities in the Kingdom were organised. To facilitate the execution of Hajj rites, the ministry has given contemporary and well-equipped transport vehicles, as well as designated pathways to holy sites.

A detailed programme was put in place to guarantee that well-equipped lodging and facilities were available in Makkah and at the holy places. To improve safety, security officials agreed to identify certain paths for the stoning ceremony at the Jamarat site. They were introduced to informative programmes, seminars, lectures, and cultural contests, to promote awareness before and during the journey.
