The second version of its master plan for the urban development of central and southern Al-Ula has been released by RCU

The second master plan for the urban development of central and southern AlUla was introduced by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU). The plan intends to raise the standard of living in the area while promoting urban development and economic progress. This is within the umbrella of all-encompassing sustainable development that is outlined in the AlUla Vision in accordance with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

With the slogan "Towards a Prosperous Society," the RCU announced the strategic direction of the plan, which will concentrate on urban development with the development of residential land and utility services and facilities, in addition to achieving public health objectives and enhancing the sustainable mobility experience.

The second master plan, which launches the "Journey Through Time" design concept, serves as a roadmap for the development of AlUla's centre and southern sectors and brings about the comprehensive development phase first planned in 2021. The two plans seek to make AlUla a significant tourist destination, a leader in arts, heritage, culture, and environment, as well as an ideal place to live and work. It is concerned with developing and restoring the primary archaeological region in AlUla.

The plan calls for improving the quality of services offered, improving the infrastructure and urban environment, and making certain components of activities available that aim to improve the quality of health services, improve the quality of recreational activities, and improve overall sustainability in residential areas as well as at various facilities. Additionally, Wadi Al-Qura's connection with the province's surrounding areas offers a variety of transportation options.

The "Towards a Prosperous Society" plan is built on attaining economic growth, protecting cultural and natural heritage, humanising the city, and offering an urban experience through its living services in diverse neighbourhoods and places. The AlUla Sustainability Charter, which seeks to establish a circular carbon economy and achieve complete carbon neutrality in the AlUla governorate by 2035, served as the basis for the second phase of the plan's development.

The Royal Commission will be able to create an ideal location for living and working with the help of the urban development plan, which will also make it possible to build innovative infrastructure. This infrastructure will also be able to meet the needs of neighbourhoods with urban styles and integrated services. In order to link people with nature and the governorate's rich history, a peaceful environment must be created. Numerous essential amenities and services, such as parks, sports facilities, and green spaces will be made available to the neighbourhood.

In order to achieve first human development before place as a basic methodology, the RCU reaffirmed its commitment to promoting comprehensive sustainable development, enhancing the urban development of the governorate, and preparing it through a system of programmes and initiatives. To further this vision, the RCU presented architectural models and designs inspired by traditional architectural styles in AlUla.
