Three months remains for the expiration of deadline for the payment of 50 percent traffic fine reduction

NewsThe deadline for paying the 50% reduction in traffic fines is just three months away, the General Department of Traffic stressed. The government encouraged people to settle their outstanding traffic fines as soon as possible before the deadline of April 18, 2024, passes.
The Ministry of Interior stated in October 2024 that the grace period for paying a 50% reduction in accumulated traffic penalties would be extended for an additional six months. This was carried out in response to orders from Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and King Salman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The top authorities' decree states that the new grace period will expire on April 18, 2025. The royal order was issued after a six-month grace period that had been previously declared ended on Friday, October 18, 2024.
The 50 percent reduction in traffic charges, which was announced on April 18, 2024, permits offenders to pay their fines in full or in installments for each infraction. According to the earlier royal edict, the reduction applied to all infractions committed before to April 18, 2024, and in order to qualify for the reduction, all accrued traffic fines had to be paid within six months, from April 18 to October 18, 2024.
By lowering fines for any infractions committed up to the day before the reduction period starts, this historic move aims to lessen the financial burden on citizens, foreign nationals, tourists, and GCC residents.
The Traffic Department stated that the SADAD payment system and the Efaa platform automatically pay for traffic penalties, but cautioned against responding to any dubious links, calls, or websites that purport to offer the service.
