
Unified charging ports to charge mobile phones and electronic devices will become mandatory in Saudi Arabia from January 1. In the first phase, 12 electronic devices, including mobile phones, will be covered by the policy. As a part of this, USB Type-C charging ports will be made mandatory on all devices.
The main objective of this project is to provide better user experience and avoid additional costs. Also, it stands to reduce electronic waste and ensure environmental protection.
Organizations including the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization and the Communications, Space and Technology Commission are working for this.Current decisions will improve customer experience and provide high-quality charging and data transfer technologies.
