World Letter Writing Day; Saudi foundation publishes letters sent by King Abdulaziz

The King Abdulaziz Foundation released a number of rare historical records on September 1 in honour of World Letter Writing Day, including several letters that King Abdulaziz wrote to his father, Abdul Rahman bin Faisal, his sisters, and representatives of the government.

The foundation announced on Friday that they contain a letter the future king of Saudi Arabia sent to his father in 1919 in which he expressed his gratitude and affection for him, informed him that he had received the letters he had sent, and discussed his own health as well as the health of others who were with him. In a subsequent letter, sent in 1925, the monarch reassured his father that he and his travelling companions were doing fine and provided positive updates on the state of the nation and its citizens. According to the foundation, the letters capture the depth of King Abdulaziz's affection for his father and the unique bond they shared in the years leading up to the restoration of Saudi authority and the establishment of the Saudi state.

King Abdulaziz was known to appreciate family relationships and did not allow the duties of leadership and state construction to cause him to disregard such areas, it was stated. King Abdulaziz ruled Saudi Arabia from the time it was created in 1932 until his death in 1953.

According to the organisation, the letters' publishing serves as a reminder of the nation's founder's lofty humanitarian goals. In order to catalogue, repair, and conserve these papers, it was further stated that the King Salman Centre for the Restoration and Preservation of Historical papers used the most recent technology. The organisation is in charge of a sizable archive of various historical materials, including pictures and videos, as well as unique letters and historical documents relevant to the history of the country. According to the statement, the collection is a database of American history that is priceless to academics and other experts.
