Dhul Qada 1, or April 29, has been set by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as the deadline for foreign Umrah pilgrims to depart Saudi Arabia. This is done in advance of the yearly Hajj season, which starts on Dhul Qada 1.
According to a ministry statement, the pilgrims' last day to enter the Kingdom to undertake Umrah is Shawwal 15, which is April 13.
The ministry stressed that staying past this date is illegal and will result in consequences. Both people and businesses that offer Umrah services and facilities were advised to follow the rules and guidelines regarding pilgrims' departure hours.
Any departure delay beyond the designated date will be deemed a violation, the government said. In addition to facing legal action, businesses and establishments who fail to disclose pilgrims lingering longer than expected may be fined up to SR100,000.
