Al-Khobar City certified as a healthy city by the World Health Organization

Al-Khobar City satisfies 80 requirements set by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to be designated as a healthy city.  The city obtained an international accreditation certificate by meeting and surpassing the requirements of the final evaluation. The city's parks and walking paths, as well as its commitment to encouraging health through primary care facilities and schools, are responsible for this accomplishment.

Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Emir of the Eastern Region, and Fahd Al-Jalajel, the Minister of Health, formally accepted the accreditation certificate. The Ministry of Health's Healthy Cities Programme is the fourth internationally and the first in the area to collaborate with the World Health Organisation on healthy cities.

Saudi Arabia leads the region with 16 certified healthy cities spread across many areas.

The programme stands out for its attempts to improve people's quality of life and prioritizing development initiatives. It does this by establishing goals for upcoming health indicators, putting efforts and programmes to support sustainability into action, and attempting to lower the number of chronic diseases linked to lifestyle choices.

The ultimate objectives are to reduce health risks and medical expenses, raise Saudi Arabia's position in global health indices, and support the development of a thriving and healthy society.
