Countdown to third Saudi Games begins as the torch relay started journey from Bujairi Terrace in Diriyah

The torch relay started its trek from Bujairi Terrace in Diriyah on Thursday night, signaling the beginning of the countdown to the third Saudi Games.

As the torch, a representation of aspiration and unity, was handed from Diriyah Governor Prince Fahd bin Saad to Ahmed Eid, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation's first elected president, and finally to taekwondo champion Dunya Abu Taleb, athletes and authorities joined together.

Before arriving in Riyadh for the official opening of the Games, the torch will travel 3,500 miles over the course of 30 days, passing through 17 cities around the Kingdom. 

The Year of the Camel, which falls during this year's competition, is an animal that is fundamental to the identity and culture of the country and goes well with the torch's message of peace, friendship, and optimism for the future.
