NewsAccording to the National Centre for Wildlife, Saudi Arabia's hunting season will start on September 1, 2024, and last until January 31, 2025. This decision was made in the wake of a thorough analysis of hunting methods designed to maintain natural harmony and biodiversity while guaranteeing sustainable resource utilisation.
In addition to conducting in-depth research and collaborating with hunting professionals, the centre has taken into account observations from past hunting seasons and global best practices. The season will only be open to certain species that are allowed to be hunted; further information about these species may be found on the center's website and the Fitri platform.
A hunting permit obtained through the Fitri platform and a licensed hunting firearm are prerequisites for participation. The centre stressed that it is strictly forbidden to hunt endangered animals and that hunting is also forbidden in restricted areas, which include villages, urban areas, farms, population centres, areas close to military, industrial, and critical facilities, reserves, large projects, and coastal areas up to 20 kilometres inland.
To promote ethical hunting, approved approaches are delineated, which forbid the use of firearms, hunting nets, and unapproved methods like as calling and attraction devices. The season will only be open to certain species that are allowed to be hunted; further information about these species may be found on the center's website and the Fitri platform.
The centre warns that breaking hunting and environmental rules may result in sanctions and strongly advises observing them. Violators shall be apprehended by the Ministry of Interior and referred to the appropriate authorities for legal prosecution, in collaboration with the National Centre for Wildlife and other pertinent agencies.
