NewsThe Ibex Reserve is now the first protected area in the Kingdom to be admitted to the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Green List, marking a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia's conservation efforts.
According to a Saudi Press Agency article on Wednesday, this recognition puts it among the 77 protected areas in the world that satisfy the union's stringent requirements for efficient management and protection.
The reserve's managing organization, the National Center for Wildlife, stressed the importance of this honor, noting that only a small portion of the world's more than 300,000 protected areas had been granted a spot on the Green List.
The reserve's accomplishment in offering beneficial services to nearby communities and its contribution to sustainable development are highlighted by its inclusion on the Green List.
The reserve's accomplishment of important standards in governance, management, design, and planning, as well as its awareness of social, economic, and environmental issues, are reflected in its listing.
