King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre unveiled a new service - the Mobile Stroke Unit

A novel service being offered by a hospital in Riyadh might significantly improve stroke results by treating patients while they are delayed in traffic. The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre unveiled the Mobile Stroke Unit on Monday at the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh. 

In the crucial first hour following the onset of symptoms, referred to as the "golden hour," the service can provide stroke patients with prompt care, greatly boosting recovery prospects.

One major issue in stroke care is delays in getting to hospitals, especially in crowded cities like Riyadh. This is addressed by the Mobile Stroke Unit. Traffic frequently lengthens travel times, which delays necessary medical care, reduces recovery prospects, and raises the risk of death or permanent impairment. To address this issue, the KFSHRC's Mobile Stroke Unit offers stroke victims on-the-go medical attention while they travel to the hospital.

The Mobile Stroke Unit is sent out right away by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority upon receiving a complaint from the family of a stroke victim describing symptoms like arm weakness, face drooping, or trouble speaking. Before the patient gets to the hospital, a group of experts working in the ambulance—a vascular neurologist, a critical care nurse, a paramedic, and a CT scan technician—diagnoses and treats them.

The Mobile Stroke Unit's capacity to do brain imaging and CT scans while in motion is one of its most inventive characteristics. This allows medical professionals to promptly ascertain if the stroke is being caused by a haemorrhage or a blocked artery. 

With every minute gained, this might potentially save millions of brain cells by enabling staff to provide proper therapy immediately.
