The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China accepted nominations on Thursday. They can be submitted on the www.pmsa.org.sa website through the end of February.
Abdul Mohsen Al-Aqili, the secretary-general of the awards, invited educational and cultural establishments in both nations to propose candidates for the four primary categories of Cultural Personality of the Year, Translation Between Arabic and Chinese, Artistic and Creative Works, and Research and Studies in Cultural Fields.
In addition to people, cultural or academic institutions, as well as individuals, may nominate themselves in the personality of the year category.
The work that is nominated must "achieve the main goal of the awards, which is to contribute to strengthening cultural communication between the Arab and Chinese cultures in particular, as well as between general cultural communication."
He went on to say that the awards are founded on the ideals of intercultural dialogue and openness, and that objectivity, honesty, transparency, and intellectual property rights would guide their decisions.
According to Al-Aqili, the program will provide special attention to the young of both nations in an effort to develop their technical and creative abilities and improve cross-cultural dialogue.
