NewsFive contracts totalling SR6 billion have been signed by the Riyadh Region Mayoralty to upgrade the capital city's roadways over a five-year period. This is an expansion of its strategic ambitions to enhance the transit experience, because the contracts covered 83 million square meters of work for a thriving Riyadh that adheres to the highest efficiency and environmental requirements.
The contracts sought to raise and enhance the condition of roads, and to improve the safe mobility experience inside the city and bring it to an advanced level of international standards for assessing road quality.
Additionally, by strengthening the road network, this will improve the sustainability and efficiency of the services offered, which also include remodelling and asphalt work. Up to 2028, the projects will be carried out in accordance with several relevant agencies in order to benefit both city dwellers and tourists.
In order to set work priorities based on exact requirements that come from a thorough study of the capital's roads and streets, the mayoralty uses a system that divides the city into five zones: the north, south, east, west, and centre zones. The newest technologies will be used in this process, and they will be divided into work zones based on factors such as safety regulations, maintenance schedules, road quality, and collaboration with other local agencies.
