Saudi Arabia advanced to 15th place globally, according to the recent edition of 'Lloyds List One Hundred Ports'

NewsAs evidenced by its seaports, Saudi Arabia has improved its standing in the globe when it comes to yearly container handling figures, moving up from 16th to 15th position worldwide, according to the newly published 2024 edition of "Lloyd's List One Hundred Ports."
The report claims that Saudi Arabia's ports have improved their standing abroad. Jeddah Islamic Port, for example, rose from 41st to 32nd place worldwide in just the last year, recording approximately 5.6 million standard containers as opposed to 4.96 million standard containers in 2022—a 12.6% increase.
According to a statement released by the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI), King Abdullah Port also moved up from 71st to 70th rank, registering 2.93 million standard containers last year as opposed to 2.905 million containers in 2022, achieving a gain of 0.8%.
With 2.305 million standard containers last year compared to 2.038 million standard containers the year before, King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam rose from 90th to 82nd rank, a 13.1% rise.
In order to improve the operational effectiveness of the container terminals in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Ports Authority also signed a series of development and commercial support contracts. These agreements helped to increase the capacity of the container terminals at Jeddah Islamic Port by over 70% and King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam by over 120%.
