SFDA has confirmed that its approval must be obtained before advertising any product under its supervision

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has affirmed that before promoting any product under its jurisdiction, clearance is required. This ensures that the items are fit for consumption and promotes public health. Pesticides, feed, food items, medical equipment and supplies, and over-the-counter (OTC) medications are all subject to this clearance requirement.

The authorities have set guidelines and restrictions for the process of approving media advertisements for certain items. Important guidelines state that any claims made in the advertisement must be authorised by them, that no words in the advertisement may diminish or have an impact on other products, that the product must be registered or listed with the authority, and that no deceptive language may be used in the advertisement to mislead consumers.

Adherence to these guidelines and regulations was encouraged by the SFDA for product advertising. Additionally, it promotes reporting items that violate the law by using the "Tameni" application or the unified number, 19999.
