The Garage, a brand-new structure opened in Riyadh, to house and support innovative technology startups

A brand-new structure in Riyadh opened its doors, on Monday, to entrepreneurs in the creative technology sector. The Garage, once a parking structure, has 28,000 square metres of area and can house 300 startups. It contains 24 conference rooms and a 1,000-person capacity event space.

Although the concept of having a place for start-up businesses has been implemented previously, Ibrahim Nasrallah, the project manager of The Garage, claimed that it has never been implemented on this scale. According to Nasrallah, the creative team opted to maintain the building's original architecture to preserve the feeling of a garage. Nasrallah said that it took eight months to finish the job. It has a guest office for important visitors, a sky bar outside, a place to take a sleep, a hackathon space, and event and conference spaces.

Incubation, The Garage Plus, and The Garage Disrupt are the three programmes that The Garage has put together for businesses to join. Early-stage businesses might benefit from the services provided by the incubation programme. The Garage Plus, in collaboration with Google for Startups, targets small and medium-sized IT businesses. The Garage Disrupt is a regular public networking event with the goal of bringing together participants in the technology sector.
