NewsThe World Health Organisation (WHO) has applauded Saudi Arabia for its efforts over the last five years to minimise the number of fatalities from traffic accidents. Saudi Arabia's traffic deaths and injuries have decreased significantly, according to the Health Sector Transformation Program. The program's 2023 annual report states that while injuries have declined by 4% since 2016, traffic accident fatalities have dropped by 54%.
The program has invested in a number of traffic safety measures, such as the installation of 400 warning signs, 100 solar-powered traffic signals, and more than 60 km of road safety barriers, in order to accomplish these objectives. Additionally, over 40,000 reflective road markings have been put in place.
The Ministerial Committee of Traffic Safety, regional traffic safety committees, and pertinent agencies are to be commended for their cooperative efforts in this tremendous success. Increasing traffic-law enforcement, developing specialised medical treatment for accident victims, and repairing road infrastructure are some of their tactics.
