NewsAs part of a $101 million incentive unveiled in Riyadh, teams from all around the world will participate in a seven-year global race to discover the keys to better ageing. The challenge, which is run by the charity Hevolution Foundation and the XPRIZE Foundation of entrepreneur Peter Diamandis, was unveiled on Wednesday at the Global Healthspan Summit.
Hevolution was formally established in 2021 and was headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, after a royal decree in 2018. Teams must adhere to national rules while proposing innovative and daring ideas for expanding human healthspan during the competition.
Statistics indicate that although lifespans have grown, the number of years that an individual lives in excellent health has declined internationally.
By 2050, there will be twice as many individuals over 60 as there are now, or two billion.
In around three and a half years, the competition window will open, according to Diamandis. At that point, the team can declare that they are prepared to participate and provide information to our judging panel, which will determine whether or not they are making a sincere attempt.
