Following Al-Madinah Heritage Co.'s agreement with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones to purchase property in Madinah, the Public Investment Fund-established company would create a specialised date plant.
The deputy governor of the Madinah area, Prince Saud bin Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, was present when the announcement was made during the Industry and Local Content Medinah Forum's opening on Thursday, according to Saudi Pess Agency.
According to Bandar Al-Qahtani, CEO of Al-Madinah Heritage Co., the deal would initiate the company's plan for an integrated date plant located in Madinah. He also stated that plans and specifications would be developed in line with the most recent international technology, and work would start three months later.
PIF established the Al-Madinah Heritage Company in September of last year with the intention of raising the standard and yield of dates—more especially, the Ajwa type. Additionally, it intends to expand the dates' and associated goods' reach into new and varied domestic and foreign markets.
With almost 34 million fruiting palm trees spread out across the nation, the Kingdom generates more than 3.1 tonnes of dates, according to SPA. From July to September, the areas host over ten yearly date festivals, which provide farmers with a platform to market their goods and harvests.
The only kind of dates that are recorded in the life of the Prophet Muhammad are Ajwa dates, which are regarded as one of the most significant sorts worldwide. Ajwa dates are distinguished by their deep, nearly black colour and have a high nutritious content. This is explained by the fact that they grew in the centre of the mineral-rich volcanic region of Harrat Al-Madinah.
