A new Saudi development - Saudi New Murabba was announced on February 16

The New Murabba Development Company (NMDC), in an effort to revitalise downtown Riyadh on a much grander scale, has teamed up with the Tourism Development Fund. The NMDC promises to be a destination that serves all facets of life by providing a place for people to live, work, and play. His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Prime Minister and Chairman of NMDC, revealed the new Saudi development on Thursday, February 16, 2023. It is consistent with Saudi Vision 2030.

A museum, "ever-changing, immersive worlds," walking paths, an immersive theatre, a new landmark named The Mukaab, and over 80 entertainment and cultural outlets are all part of this ambitious endeavour. Set to be completed by 2030, sustainability will be at the core of the Saudi New Murabba development with green spaces, cycling paths and walking trails. New Murabba will be large enough to hold 20 Empire State Buildings.

The Saudi giga-project, which will cover 19 square kilometres and be located northwest of Riyadh at the intersection of King Salman Road and King Khalid Road, has the capacity to house both the Empire State Buildings and hundreds of thousands of people living in Riyadh. With a floor area of 25 million square metres, Saudi New Murabba would have about 104,000 residential units and 9,000 hotel rooms. In addition, there will be about 980,000 square metres of retail space and 1.4 million square metres of office space.

Every amenity that New Murabba has to offer will be conveniently accessible to residents. Everything should be accessible by foot in a 15-minute radius, and the development will include an internal transit system.

The Mukaab, the next landmark in Riyadh, will fuse modern technologies with Najdi architectural design. With first-of-its-kind amenities and a square footprint of 400 metres squared, high, broad, and long, it will rank among the biggest buildings ever constructed.

In addition to the aforementioned residential and hotel units, commercial spaces, and recreational amenities, the Mukaab will have a tower situated above a spiral base that will house two million square metres of retail, culture, and tourism attractions. As the first immersive attraction in the world, The Mukaab will provide experiences with the newest holographics as well as digital and virtual technologies.
