NewsThe Cabinet, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, on Tuesday in Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, adopted a draught law outlining the rights and duties of transport users. The Cabinet was informed on the content of recent talks undertaken by the Kingdom with a number of foreign countries with the goal of enhancing relations and partnerships to serve mutual interests and foster friendship and cooperation in a variety of disciplines.
Bandar Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources and Acting Minister of Media, stated that the Cabinet discussed many regional and international developments, including those in Sudan and Niger. It reaffirmed the Kingdom's appeal for prioritising national interests in these two nations and preventing military escalation. It also emphasised Saudi Arabia's disapproval of the coup that deposed Niger's rightful president, Mohamed Bazoum.
The Cabinet also discussed the outcome of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, convened at the request of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iraq to discuss repeated acts of burning copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark, emphasising the importance of nurturing and exerting international efforts to promote dialogue and respect among peoples and cultures, and rejecting all acts that violate the Islamic faith. At the local level, the Cabinet discussed the most important national economic performance indicators, as well as the favourable ratings and expectations of key international organisations, which foresee steady development next year, bolstered by investments in non-oil megaprojects.
According to Al-Khorayef, the Cabinet was pleased with the outcomes of the economic and financial reforms aimed at promoting economic development and enhancing the Kingdom's financial position in order to assure financial sustainability and prosperity. The Cabinet accepted an agreement between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Bulgaria to form a joint committee to execute the General Agreement on Cooperation between the two nations. It was resolved to authorise the Saudi Space Agency to take the necessary steps to join the Charter establishing the Space for Climate Observatory (SCO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
