NewsUnder the Guests of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Programme for Hajj, Umrah, and Visit, the first group of Umrah pilgrims arrived in Madinah on Thursday. 250 powerful Islamic leaders from 14 East Asian nations—Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Hong Kong, Japan, Brunei, Thailand, South Korea, Cambodia, and Mongolia—formed this first group at the behest of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance. The next three groups of the 1000 Umrah performers that will be accommodated as part of the programme are anticipated to arrive later on Thursday.
The pilgrims conveyed their appreciation to the Crown Prince and King Salman, the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for their kind welcome. They recognised this deed as an expression of the Kingdom's commitment to supporting Islam and its adherents.
Along with other historical landmarks, the programme, which is run by the General Secretariat of the Guests of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Programme, includes visits to important Islamic sites in Madinah, including the Prophet's Mosque and Quba Mosque. The tourists' spiritual journey will come to an end when they undertake Umrah in Makkah after their stay in Madinah.
