Grand Mosque in Makkah is all set to receive pilgrims, worshipers, and those fasting on Ashoura

According to the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, the Grand Mosque in Makkah is ready to accommodate pilgrims, worshippers, and those fasting on Ashoura. Ashoura is commemorated on the tenth of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, and will fall on Friday, July 28 this year. It is a special day for Sunni Muslims, who think that fasting on Ashoura is a noble deed.

Dates, Zamzam water, and dry snacks will be handed to mosque guests before sundown, according to the presidency's spokesperson, Maher bin Mansi Al-Zahrani. Al-Zahrani went on to say that current technology and artificial intelligence approaches are employed to help with the mosque's sterilisation and disinfection operations.

These include 11 smart sterilisation robots, 20 devices that sterilise the air and surfaces simultaneously, 20 devices that sterilise hard-to-reach regions like ceilings and pillars, and 600 automated hand sanitization devices. Several teams are also working to sanitise all aspects of the mosque, including its courtyards and restrooms, with almost 70,000 litres of disinfectant.

Furthermore, 200 Saudi supervisors oversee the labour of 4,000 male and female staff who clean the mosque 10 times each day, prepare 7,000 bottles of Zamzam for distribution, and outfit all parts of the mosque with 4,500 Zamzam containers holding 500,000 litres of the holy water.
