Green Riyadh project announced the start of construction work of three major parks in the Riyadh

Three large parks in the neighbourhoods of Al-Munsiyah, Rimal, and Al-Qadisiyah in the capital city of Riyadh, totaling more than 550,000 square metres, are set to begin development, according to the Green Riyadh initiative. The goal of Green Riyadh is to rank Riyadh among the world's most livable cities.

The new initiatives will improve living standards, offer leisure opportunities for both locals and tourists, increase the percentage of green space per person by 16 times, and make Riyadh one of the world's most sustainable cities.

The three main parks to the east of Riyadh are unique in their designs because they include and connect the Wadi Al-Sulay nature, which runs through the city, and connect it to the sports track by pedestrian pathways that wind through forested areas.

With the planting of more than 585,000 trees and bushes, the proportion of green spaces in the parks amounts to 65 percent. The parks have 22 kid-friendly play spaces that will teach youngsters in creative ways to improve environmental consciousness, as well as 18 km of walking, 8 km of running, and 8.5 km of bike trails.

In addition, the parks have green terraces, open-air theatres for festivals and events, squares, and sports facilities catering to various age groups, as well as water features that will improve the local ecosystem.

One of the most significant initiatives in Riyadh is Green Riyadh, which was started by King Salman, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, at the suggestion of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. It makes a major contribution to the achievement of one of Vision 2023's and the Green Saudi Initiative's main objectives, which is to plant 10 billion trees in Saudi Arabia.
