NewsA total of 84 trips will be run daily between Makkah and Jeddah, according to Eng. Rayan Al-Harbi, operations chief of the Haramain High-Speed Train Project.
He told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that a round-trip ticket in economy class will cost SR23.
Al-Harbi claimed that the purpose of this affordable price is to make it easier for Jeddah residents to conduct the Umrah pilgrimage by elevating the Sulaymaniyah station to the top of their list of preferred stations for Haramain Train services. From Makkah's Rusaifa station to the Grand Mosque, visitors can be transported by bus.
After all stations have been outfitted with the amenities to service the Umrah pilgrims, trips between Makkah and Madinah and the other stations will be increased during the busiest Umrah season in Ramadan.
During the holy month of Ramadan, the management of the Haramain High-Speed Railway has raised the number of daily train trips between Makkah and Madinah to over 100.
Five stations on the Haramain Train have been outfitted with complete services, and a growing number of tourists and pilgrims are using them to travel to and from the Grand Mosque in Makkah, the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, the city of Jeddah, and King Abdullah Economic City.
Since its opening, the railway, which connects Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah and Rabigh, has run more than 25,000 trips while keeping a 95 percent schedule accuracy.
