NewsRecently, Jeddah hosted the world's first mosque constructed with 3D printing technology for its opening ceremony. The mosque is named after the late Abdulaziz Abdullah Sharbatly as a memorial from his wife, Saudi entrepreneur Wajnat Abdulwahed. It is located in the Al-Jawhara district of Jeddah.
The idea was presented in front of a group of top government officials and business executives as a part of the National Housing Co.'s portfolio.
Abdulwahed, the chairman of Fursan Real Estate, oversaw the building of the 5,600-square-meter mosque using state-of-the-art 3D printers from Guanli, a well-known Chinese producer of 3D printing equipment. The mosque was intended to stand out as a unique feature in the community thanks to the minarets. Additionally, the layout of the open outdoor space was influenced by Hijr Ismail, which is located next to the Kaaba in the Grand Mosque and serves as an extension for worshippers for Friday prayers, Ramadan taraweeh prayers, and Eid outside the mosque.
The Abdulaziz Abdullah Sharbatly mosque is the world's first of its sort and a genuinely distinctive building since it incorporates all these characteristics. The accomplishment of the first 3D-printed mosque in history highlights the cooperative efforts of several stakeholders, including innovators, corporate executives, and government representatives.
