NewsThe task of enhancing the pilgrimage experience in Makkah for individuals with mobility impairments has been placed on innovators and entrepreneurs. The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Umm Al-Qura University, and investment company Wadi Makkah Co. organized a week-long event that started at the company's headquarters on Sunday in order to assist them in coming up with solutions, offer support, and foster collaborations.
The specific objective is to enhance pilgrim services by creating creative solutions for those who struggle to perform Hajj rituals like Sa'i, which involves frequently moving between the mosque's Safa and Marwah hills, and Tawaf, which involves walking around the Kaaba seven times. Four categories—manually operated wheelchairs, electric cars, golf carts, and trailers—as well as an open part for innovative mobility concepts comprise the challenge.
He said that Wadi Makkah mentors are imparting technical, creative, and entrepreneurial knowledge, while the general authority is elucidating the nature of pilgrim-mobility concerns.
