International Dates Conference and Exhibition in Riyadh; more than 25 local and international agreements were signed

At the most recent International Dates Conference and Exhibition in Riyadh, more than 25 national and international agreements were inked. In addition, plans to build an SR70 million service centre and an SR200 million ($53 million) production plant were revealed at the recently held National Centre for Palms and Dates event.

According to a Friday report from the Saudi Press Agency, 21 businesses that sell dates and their derivatives have an agreement with Alibaba Group to export dates to China and other nations. The Khalas Dates Packaging Company inked two agreements totaling SR7.5 million and SR16 million with the Galaxy Foods Company in the US and the Baladna Company in Germany.

The NCPD, King Saud University, and the ByPalma Association collaborated to organise the event, from December 5–14. Over 1,300 individuals from Saudi Arabia and other countries participated both in person and virtually to talk about industry advancements, as well as the potential and difficulties the sector faces. Over 93,000 people attended the "World of Dates" exhibition on the conference's fringes, which highlighted the Kingdom's important position in the sector.

Saudi Arabia is the world's top exporter of dates, with about SR1,280 billion in sales. An estimated 1,600 million tonnes of dates are exported annually to 116 nations from the more than 36 million palm trees in the Kingdom.
