The King Faisal Prize will reveal the names of its laureates for 2024 on January 10 in Riyadh of its laureates for 2024. Specialised selection committees for the most prestigious award in the Arab world convened at KFP headquarters in Riyadh on Monday in advance of the announcement.
There will be prize distribution in the fields of science, medicine, Arabic language and literature, and Islamic studies. The committee meeting to choose the winner for the Service to Islam category will be presided over by Prince Turki Al-Faisal, according to KFP.
It further said that the following subjects will be covered at the 46th KFP session in 2024, as declared by the KFP General Secretariat in 2022: Arabic Language and Literature: "Non-Arab Institutions and Their Efforts to the Promotion of Arabic"; Medical: "Management of Peripheral Disabilities"; Science: "Biology"; Islamic Studies: "Islamic Legislations and their Contemporary Applications."
The General Secretariat further said that, as long as the candidate's work has previously been published, nominations can come from universities, research centres, scientific and linguistic organisations, and other organisations. In addition, the effort need to be educational and add to the body of knowledge that advances humankind.
Only writers who are still alive may submit nominations; no persons nor political groups are permitted to do so, according to the General Secretariat.
This year's KFP selection committees comprise professionals, specialists, and academics from 22 different nations. The nominated works will be examined in Riyadh in compliance with the General Secretariat's norms and regulations in order to choose the laureates in an impartial and open way. The 2024 laureates in every category will be named by Prince Turki Al-Faisal on Wednesday at the KFP headquarters in Riyadh.
The King Faisal Foundation founded the KFP in 1977, and it was first awarded in 1979. It honours exceptional achievements by people and organisations and seeks to further human knowledge and progress while also serving Muslims.
