King Salman has approved holding an international Islamic conference in Makkah on August 13 and 14

King Salman, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has approved holding an international Islamic conference in Makkah on Aug. 13 and 14 (Muharram 26 and 27). The conference will be attended by around 150 famous Islamic academics, muftis, religious leaders, and intellectuals from 85 countries worldwide. The two-day event will also feature the heads of Islamic groups and sheikhdoms, as well as scholars from a number of foreign institutions. The conference, titled "Communication with the Departments of Religious Affairs, Ifta, and Sheikhdoms in the World and the Like," will be hosted by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call, and Guidance.

In its seven working sessions, the conference will address issues such as moderation, radicalism, decadence, extremism, terrorism, tolerance, and inter-ethnic cooperation. The conference intends to develop communication and integration linkages between religious affairs departments, ifta, and sheikhdoms throughout the world in order to attain the principles of moderation and to encourage the ideals of tolerance and coexistence among people. It also emphasizes the importance of adhering to the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, in addition to serving Islam and Muslims, promoting Islamic unity among Muslims, combating extremist ideas, and protecting societies from atheism and disintegration.

The conference will highlight the Kingdom's unique experience in God propagation, disseminating merciful principles, and conserving values in construction, renaissance, and advancement in many disciplines while developing society. The conference would be divided into seven key issues. The first is the work of religious affairs departments, fatwas, and sheikhdoms across the world in serving Islam and Muslims and fostering Islamic unity. Second, improve communication and integration between realities and ambitions, and third, promote the ideals of tolerance and coexistence among peoples.

Other topics include adhering to the teachings of the Holy Book and the Prophet's Sunnah; spreading moderation in the Qur'an and the Sunnah; bolstering the efforts of religious affairs departments, fatwas, and sheikhdoms around the world in combating extremism and terrorism, and continuing efforts to protect society from atheism and decadence.

The conference is being organised as part of the ministry's efforts to maintain the moderation approach via constructive cooperation with international religious leaders, in order to contribute to the reduction of acts of violence and emotions of hatred among the world's peoples.
