Klija Festival sees an impressive turnout with an average 20,000 visitors per day and daily sales reaching SR1 million

NewsSince opening on February 8, the Klija Festival in Buraidah has attracted a considerable amount of attention. Daily sales have reached SR1 million, and in the first ten days, the event has brought in SR10 million. An average of 20,000 guests per day have attended. According to the festival's executive director, Nayef Al-Munsaleh, thousands of people from the surrounding and Gulf areas attend. Families and businesses who specialise in making Klija, or cookies filled with date molasses, as well as other regional specialties, are featured.
Al-Munsaleh emphasised the festival's contribution to the advancement of sustainable marketing, the encouragement of diverse career paths, and the improvement of craftsmanship among cottage industry participants.
The celebration of the region's rich history and culture since its founding in 2009 is being held at the King Khalid Cultural Centre in Buraidah till February 27. The Culinary Arts Commission views Klija as a crucial component of the National and Regional Dishes Narratives Initiative and seeks to promote Saudi culinary arts as a strategic partner.
As part of this project, emblematic meals from each of the Kingdom's 13 regions will be documented and commemorated. The Qassim Region has selected Klija as its food, which is valued for both its excellent flavour and cultural significance.
