Madinah completes 70 kilometers of bike paths along main roads and residential areas in 2023

NewsAs part of the Municipality of Madinah's humanising cities programme, which aims to enhance the quality of life and create more enticing public places, the municipality has constructed 70 km of bike routes along major highways and residential neighbourhoods by 2023.
In addition to offering a fast and safe means of transportation, the recently constructed bike routes also provide as a platform for raising awareness of fitness and health among city dwellers. These bike lanes are suitable for both novice and expert riders and provide an opportunity to improve skills and get some exercise.
Commuters have a sustainable option thanks to the routes' smooth integration with the public transit system.
With approximately 165 stations spread over the city, the Careem BIKE service—which provides rental bike stations—further promotes environmentally responsible mobility for both locals and visitors.
The bike routes prioritise safety and are made to fit users of all ages and skill levels while maintaining a safe distance from moving cars. By the end of 2025, the municipality wants to have connected 220 km of bike lanes, which will include 33 of Madinah's most important places.
This programme is in line with the municipality's mission to improve the standard of living for locals and provide tourists with experiences they won't soon forget. Bike rental stations are available at historical places and attractions, such as the core area around the Prophet's Mosque, which promotes exploration and enjoyment of the city's distinctive features.
The installation of these secure bike lanes lessens environmental effects while simultaneously promoting environmentally friendly modes of transportation. The goal of this all-encompassing strategy is to make Madinah more appealing, effective, and livable for its citizens, employees, and visitors alike.
