Mawhiba has presented Saudi Arabia's preparation to organize the International Chemistry Olympiad 2024

Saudi Arabia's preparations to host the International Chemistry Olympiad 2024 have been submitted by King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity Mawhiba. Mawhiba discussed Saudi Arabia's preparations in a meeting on the margins of the International Chemistry Olympiad 2023, which is being conducted in Zurich, Switzerland, in front of representatives from 89 countries and with the involvement of the Education Ministry and King Saud University.

Mawhiba also stated that a Saudi squad will compete in the current Olympiad, which began on July 16 and will finish on July 25. It is worth noting that the International Chemistry Olympiad is an annual competition for the world's most gifted secondary school chemistry students.

The Olympiad is being hosted to pique kids' interest in chemistry by requiring them to solve chemical problems independently and creatively. It also intends to improve worldwide chemistry communication and foster connections among the young scientific community of various countries. This is in addition to the students cooperating and exchanging educational and scientific experiences in chemistry.

According to Mawhiba, Saudi Arabia has competed in the Chemistry Olympiad 12 times, with Saudi students earning 35 medals, 10 silvers, and 25 bronzes. The identities of Saudi students competing in the Chemistry Olympiad have been disclosed by the Education Ministry. They are: Ali Bin Habeeb Al-Saleh, a third-grade secondary student from the Riyadh Education Department, who earned 3,209 training hours.

Furthermore, Mohammed Bin Sulaiman Al-Hadlaq, a Riyadh Education Department third-grade secondary student, acquired 3,209 training hours. It is worth noting that the concept for organising the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) began in Czechoslovakia in 1968, when it was known as the Chemistry Olympiad (ChO) and was part of the secondary school system in all Soviet bloc nations. Saudi Arabia will be hostng the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad, in July 2024.
