Ministry reports the planting of over 350,000 trees under the first phase of its ambitious plan to boost vegetation cover in residential areas

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has announced that more than 350,000 trees have been planted as part of the first phase of its ambitious plan to increase the amount of vegetation cover in residential areas. This is a significant step towards realizing the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative.

This initiative highlights Saudi Arabia's dedication to environmental sustainability and urban green development. It is a part of a larger effort to improve the quality of life within the Kingdom.

One of the main initiatives of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 is the Green Suburbs Project, which is part of the Quality of Life Program. Its goal is to plant more than 1.3 million trees in different parts of the Kingdom.

The project will greatly contribute to the development of the urban landscape by improving about 55 million square meters of residential areas and incorporating green spaces into almost 100,000 dwelling units.

The Ministry has planted almost 186,000 trees in the "Murcia" and "West of the Airport" projects in Riyadh, as well as nearly 94,000 trees in the "Pearl of Diyar" area in Yanbu Governorate, demonstrating the project's progress.

In addition, some 39,000 new trees were added to the King Abdullah Housing complex in the Al-Ahsa Governorate, and thousands more were planted in various projects, including Diyar Al-Hasa, Bouvardia City, and Dar Al-Jewar.

The Green Suburbs Project, which aims to integrate sustainable practices and green building techniques in new cities, is crucial in reinventing residential planning and development within the Kingdom. It also aims to beautify and enhance the living environment.

With an emphasis on resource efficiency and environmental sustainability, this project exemplifies a progressive approach to urban development.

The Green Suburbs Initiative, which was introduced by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing at the end of the previous year, is establishing a standard for sustainable urban growth. Its staggered implementation will end in 2025.

As it reduces pollution and carbon emissions in residential areas, the project is an important part of the shift towards a greener, more sustainable environment.
