Prophet’s Mosque Museum exhibition offers visitors an immersive exploration of Islamic history

The Prophet's Mosque in Madinah is hosting an exhibition that makes use of cutting-edge technology. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Prophet's Mosque Expansion Project Museum event provides guests with an immersive and engaging look into Islamic history.

In the first year of Hijrah, the Prophet Muhammad and his companions moved from Makkah to Madinah (then known as Yathrib). The Prophet erected two mosques, the first being the Prophet's Mosque.

The 2,200 square metre display offers a comprehensive look at the architectural marvels of the sacred place. Digital guides that highlight the intricate details of different components including the mihrab, doorways, canopies, domes, minbar, and the adhan—the Islamic call to prayer—help visitors navigate the display.

The rarest and most costly artefacts from both sacred mosques are kept in a dedicated hall. There is a space for documentary screenings in the show.
