As Red Sea International Airport (RSI) is ready to host its first international flight, Red Sea Global (RSG) is going to commemorate a significant occasion. Flydubai's debut flight, scheduled to launch on April 18, will establish a new biweekly service that will further link the Red Sea resort into the global travel network by connecting Dubai International Airport (DXB) directly to RSI.
Saudia has been operating a domestic flight schedule out of RSI since September 2023; with the launch of flydubai, the airport will receive eight flights a week.
The Red Sea destination, which is currently home to two opulent resorts—Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea, and St. Regis Red Sea Resort—depends on RSI to make access easier.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the famed football player, and his family were lately guests of the latter. The location is expanding its luxury options with the opening of three new resorts this year: Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve; Shebara, with its distinctive overwater villas; and Desert Rock, situated between mountains.
After domestic operations began last year, Red Sea International Airport's Chief Commercial Officer, Michael White, emphasized that the arrival of foreign travelers represents an exciting new phase in the airport's development.
By utilizing cutting-edge techniques to lower carbon emissions, maximize energy efficiency, and enhance resource and waste management, RSI is en route to become the first carbon-neutral airport in the Middle East. Features that comply with LEED Gold Certification standards and Dark Sky Guidelines include using local materials in construction, utilizing 100% renewable energy, and designing with light pollution reduction in mind.
The Red Sea will have 50 resorts with more than 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential properties spread throughout inland and island locations by 2030. In addition, there will be opulent marinas, golf courses, entertainment venues, and recreational amenities.
